WorkKeys/National Career Readiness Certificate provides employers, job seekers and workforce professionals with information about ACT's WorkKeys assessments and the Kentucky National Career Readiness Certificate (KY NCRC); a nationally recognized accreditation of demonstrated workplace skills based on the ACT WorkKeys assessments in three foundational areas - applied mathematics, locating information and reading for information. Many employers use the NCRC and other WorkKeys assessments for hiring and promotion.

Federal Contractor Job Listing
If a company holds a federal contract worth $100,000 or more, its job openings must be listed with the Kentucky Career Center.

Rapid Response for Dislocated Workers
Rapid Response is an early-intervention service offered to assist businesses and workers affected by layoffs and plant closings.

The Kentucky Career Center operates the state Rapid Response team. This team is trained to react quickly to announcements concerning permanent facility closures or substantial layoff situations throughout the state. Rapid Response works closely with the local workforce investment boards and the local elected officials in adversely affected areas to ensure that dislocated workers receive program information and services. Rapid Response services are offered at no cost to the business or the participating employees.

The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) requires employers to provide written notice at least 60 calendar days in advance of covered plant closings and mass layoffs. This assures that assistance can be provided to affected workers, their families and the appropriate communities.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)
This program helps workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States. TAA program services and benefits are provided to help eligible workers get back to work.

Veterans Employment Program
The Kentucky Career Center has local veterans employment representatives (LVER) and disabled veteran outreach program specialists (DVOP) assigned specifically to assist veterans with their employment and training needs. These dedicated staff members work with other career center staff, Veterans' Employment and Training Service, Department of Veterans Affairs and various other organizations whose focus is on helping veterans improve their employability and career options. More information available here.

Employers with Federal Contracts
Employers who have contracts (or subcontracts) of $100,000 or more with the federal government are required to take affirmative action to hire and promote qualified veterans. 

These employers must list their job openings with the Office of Employment and Training so that qualified campaign veterans and special disabled veterans can receive priority referrals for those jobs.
These employers must file an annual report with Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) showing the number of campaign veterans and special disabled veterans in their workforces.

Recruitment and Mass Application
Assistance can be provided to employers in the initial start-up of a new company, company expansions, seasonal hiring or just to fill vacant positions as they occur.

Assistance in recruitment, testing, taking and screening applications and creating resumes is available. Local staff members will go onsite to an employer’s place of business or provide space in any of our offices for application taking, interviewing and testing.
