To ensure the system meets the highest standards of stability, data integrity, and user experience, we have adjusted the deployment timeline for the Tax component. Readiness activities will continue: updated training resources, account activation guidance, and key milestones will be shared ahead of the August 17 system launch. Please reach out to kuip@modernization.gov with any questions or concerns.
All employers will receive a new 9-digit KEIN in KUIP. In the new system, employers and TPAs will use the employer's new KEIN to file wages or make payments.
KUIP will use an updated, leaner ICESA file format and a new CSV (comma separated values) delimited file format that will make wage reporting more efficient for employers and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). View our resources section below for guides on using the new formats.
Employers and TPAs will only report gross wages. Excess wages, taxable wages, and the amount due for the employer will be automatically calculated by KUIP.
Either the employer or the TPA will be able to start the authorization process to assign a TPA to an employer account.
The bridging period is the transitional phase between the Tax Release and Benefits and Appeals Release of KUIP where both systems will operate concurrently to support ongoing business operations and successful data integration.
New employer KEINs will be used and employers and TPAs will conduct the following tax-related functions in KUIP following Tax go-live.
Current employer KEINs will still be used and employers and TPAs will conduct the following Benefits and Appeals-related functions in legacy systems following Tax go-live.
